A port of the Doom engine that supports OpenGL
Doom Legacy is a 3D shoot'em'up game which can be played between 32 players over TCP/IP. It features a lot of improvements over the old (commercial) Doom game.
To play you need some maps, called "WAD"-files, the shareware version of doom is included in the doom-wad-shareware package (non-free section). You can use any other DOOM
WADs as well.
You can even play Heretic and Hexen if you have the WAD files.
This is the SDL version which works without external sound and music server.
LxDoom is a version of Doom, designed to run on Unix either under XFree86 or using SVGALib.
LxDoom is based on Boom, a freely available port of Doom for DOS, written by TeamTNT.
This package includes only the network game server and the required game wad file (boomlump.wad). To actually play lxdoom, you require lxdoom-x11 or lxdoom-svga,
depending on whether you're going to play lxdoom on the console or X. Packages which may also enhance your gameplay are lxdoom-sndserv and lxmusserv, which are the sound
server and music server packages, respectively.
prboom
clone of the legendary first person shooter Doom
Doom is a 3d shoot'em'up game, written by id Software, first released in 1993.
PrBoom is a version of Doom using the Simple Direct Media layer (SDL) library, which enables it to use XFree86, OpenGL, Linux framebuffer console, GGI, SVGALib or even
color or monochrome text consoles as display. There is an additional OpenGL renderer as well, which has been disabled for now.
PrBoom is based on MBF and LxDoom, which in turn is based on Boom, a freely available port of Doom for DOS, written by TeamTNT.
To play you need some maps, called "WAD", a free version of Doom is included in the freedoom package. You can use
